Vande Bharat train attacked again, stone pelting started…

Incidents of damage caused to Vande Bharat Express by anti-social elements have come to the fore in the country. Now once again, the Railway Protection Force has arrested five people for pelting stones on the Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train during the trial run in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.

Railway Protection Force (Mahasamund) Inspector praveen Singh Dhakad said that the incident took place near Bagbahara railway station at around 9 pm on friday (13 september 2024) when the train was returning from Visakhapatnam to Durg during the trial run.

Stones thrown at train during trial run

The railway official said that the train left Durg for the trial run and reached Mahasamund passing through Raipur. It left for further journey at 7.10 am on Friday. He said that on the way back, some anti-social elements threw stones at the moving train near Bagbahara, due to which the glass panes of the windows of three coaches C2, C4 and C9 were damaged. There is no report of any casualty in the incident.

Police arrested five accused

The officer said that the train security team travelling in the train informed about the incident, after which a team of security personnel was sent to the spot. He said that Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Chandrakar, Jeetu Tandi, Lekhraj Sonwani and arjun Yadav, residents of Bagbahara, have been arrested in this case. The officer said that all the five are miscreants and a case has been registered against them under section 153 of the Railway Act 1989. The matter is being investigated. Sources said that Baghel's elder brother's wife is a councilor from the congress party in Bagbahara nagar Palika.
