Ghaziabad man’s assault: Twitter MD has to participate in the probe
twitter india managing director Manish Maheshwari was accused of an alleged assault on an elderly Muslim man in Loni. He is going to appear before the ghaziabad police in relation to the video of the victim of a hate crime. ghaziabad police sent summons three days ago asking the twitter india MD to appear before it.
They said that, “The clarifications given by the company are inappropriate. As the Twitter MD is the representative of the social media organization, he is bound to participate in the probe. The MD holds the power of taking action on tweets that impact the social fabric of the country. The tweets made on the platform fuelled animosity among sections of society and created an atmosphere of tension between communities. The organization did not succeed in stopping such tweets. The representative has to appear before the police in the absence of which action can be initiated”.
The MD has to appear in front of the police along with his lawyer. The police also said that they have prepared a list of 11 questions for him among which included was the reason for the failure in removing the controversial video. The video went viral which showed a hate crime in ghaziabad targeting a Muslim man, but the state police stated that it was not a communal incident.
