Foreign countries competing to buy indian bananas..!?
Bananas are one of the fruits that indians like to eat. Bananas are one of the most popular fruits not only in india but also abroad. The percentage of bananas exported from india has increased tremendously as foreign countries are buying them in competition with indian bananas. In the last 9 years, India's banana exports have increased 8 times during the months of April-May, according to piyush Goyal, Union minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Banana export in April-May 2013 was Rs. 26 crores in April-May 2022 and increased to Rs.213 crores. It is noteworthy that this is 703 percent more and the export has increased surprisingly. minister piyush Goyal said that the reason for the increase in indian banana exports globally is due to the quality of the bananas grown in India.
About 25 percent of the world's total banana production is produced in india and india is the leader. Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and madhya pradesh contribute more than 70 percent of the banana production.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export and Development Authority (APEDA) promotes the production and processing of bananas and facilitates exports. It also assists banana exporters in various forms such as infrastructure development, quality improvement, and market development.
