Ladies Can Enter This Mosque Only After Wearing Full Sleeves, Cover Heads, No Hugging Husband for Photos, and So On

Mosques are places of worship and reverence. To demonstrate their appreciation, visitors should always follow the norms and ethics. Long, ankle-length clothing that fits loosely is appropriate for both sexes. Headscarves are required for women. The dress code and admittance requirements for the Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, are conservative:
 
  • Dress code 

    • Men: Long-sleeved shirts, long pants or trousers that reach the ankles, and no shorts 

    • Women: Long-sleeved tops that reach the ankles, long skirts or full-length pants that reach the ankles, and a headscarf 

    • Both: No transparent, tight-fitting, or sleeveless clothing, and no clothing with profanity 

    • Abayas: Black local cloaks can be worn, but they should be closed at the front or buttoned up and not see-through 

    • Visible tattoos: Must be covered 

  • Entry rules 

    • Remove shoes before entering 

    • No eating, drinking, or smoking in the mosque 

    • No intimate behavior, such as holding hands or kissing 

    • No lying down on the carpet in the main prayer hall 

  • Other tips
    • Register your visit in advance to save time, but it's not required 

    • Check the opening times for tourists during Ramadan
    The mosque is equipped to provide abayas for hire at the entrance in the event that a guest does not have one. women should dress in garments that cover their entire body, including their arms, legs, and head. women who might not have abayas or headscarves will be able to borrow them from the mosque.
