Bangladesh Bends Down Before India - Yunus Forced To...

Dhaka is currently experiencing a serious food crisis amid the fast worsening India-Bangladesh ties, forcing Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, who is leading the interim administration, to once again go to india for assistance. 468 tons of potatoes have reportedly been imported by bangladesh from India.
The consignment, which was transported by freight train, would be unloaded on saturday at the Benapole port or Noapara. The shipment of potatoes from india landed at the Benapole railway station in Bangladesh's Jessore district on thursday evening, according to a report by ABP News.
According to the report, 9,460 bags of potatoes totaling $1,007,640 were imported from India. Tata Traders from Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi, imported the consignment from Atif Exporters in Malda, West Bengal.
To lessen its reliance on indian imports, Dhaka is also said to import onions from China, Pakistan, and Turkey, as well as potatoes from Germany, Egypt, China, and Spain.
Given that india is one of Bangladesh's biggest importers, it was previously rumored that bangladesh intended to purchase significant amounts of sugar from Pakistan, a blatant insult to New Delhi. According to the allegations, the interim administration of bangladesh, which recently canceled the bandwidth transit arrangement with india, was also thinking about reducing its imports of potatoes and onions from india and exploring other suppliers for these necessities.
