More than a week before election Day, an ABC affiliate broadcast what seemed to be official election results for Pennsylvania, which showed Kamala harris handily winning the crucial swing state. This sparked a wave of conspiracy theories.
During Sunday's broadcast of the Formula 1 mexico Grand Prix by ABC local station WNEP-TV, which covers the northern region of the Keystone State, the startling outcome appeared at the bottom of the screen. With all precincts reporting, was revealed that the vice president received 52% of the vote, while Republican opponent donald trump received 47%.

ABC aired a ticker with election results for Pennsylvania, showing harris beating trump, igniting conspiracy theories.
The graphic caused a stir on social media, prompting claims of election rigging.
One user posted on X: “The cheat is on.”
The results appeared on the screen in "error," according to WNEP-TV, and were "randomly generated" as a test before the election on november 5.

The station informed the Daily Mail, which broke the story first, that "WNEP made a mistake by putting those numbers on the screen when they shouldn't have."

In order to assist news organizations in ensuring that their technology is operating correctly ahead of election night, the figures displayed on the screen were randomly generated test results.
