That is Where NTR Failed in Devara!

G GOWTHAM
NTR's first significant move toward becoming a pan-Indian celebrity was Devara. Based on the early results, Devara's effort will be viewed as a success and will create the ideal momentum for his following projects, war 2 and the picture starring Prashanth Neel, for which he won't have to work as hard. As the highly anticipated continuation of YRF's espionage franchise, war 2 will feature a new pairing between hrithik roshan and a South star like NTR. Hrithik will manage the reach in hindi markets.

When it comes to ntr and Prashanth Neel, Neel is already a recognized pan-India filmmaker, thus the full weight will not rest on NTR. By the time war 2 comes out, ntr will have become more familiar to viewers in the North. From every angle, then, ntr bore the full brunt of the responsibility for marketing Devara in hindi and other languages. However, that's where ntr let Devara down.

With four weeks till the release, he hasn't even begun promoting Devara. He made an appearance on a tv show, filmed a handful of interviews, and went to a formal press conference in Mumbai. He didn't even try to promote the movie in Telugu; the last pre-release event was a complete disaster. He concluded his time in tamil Nadu by going to a formal news conference in Chennai.

This begs the question: ntr dominated conversations during the period of intense promotion for RRR, displacing rajamouli and ram Charan. But now it appears like Rajamouli's approach—rather than NTR's—is primarily responsible for the marketing and publicity hype around RRR. Strangely, when you look at Devara, he didn't employ any of the RRR's effective strategies. Even his most ardent supporters are offended by his casual attitude regarding Devara promotions.

The most peculiar thing is that they are now making Devara interviews public, revealing the marketing gaffe and emphasizing how ntr let Devara down. Most people believe that if he had worked more to promote the movie, the hindi version would have done even better; this is where he fell short with Devara.
