Terrorism Has No Place in Our World,’ PM Modi Tells Netanyahu Amid Rising Tensions

Prime minister Narendra Modi spoke with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on monday regarding the escalating tensions in West Asia. During the call, Modi reiterated India’s support for restoring peace in the region and emphadata-sized the importance of combating terrorism. He highlighted the need for the safe release of all hostages and preventing further escalation of hostilities.
Modi stated, “Terrorism has no place in our world,” underscoring the urgency of addressing the situation. Recent days have seen israel conducting heavy airstrikes in lebanon against the "Axis of Resistance," a coalition of Iran-data-aligned militant groups, including Hezbollah. An Israeli strike last friday reportedly killed Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, leading to increased hostilities.
The call also addressed the hostages taken by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad during the attacks on october 7, which triggered significant violence and resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people in Israel. Of the 251 hostages taken, 97 remain in captivity.
In response to the ongoing conflict, Israel's military campaign has led to significant casualties in Gaza, with reports indicating over 41,000 fatalities, predominantly among women and children. The humanitarian crisis has displaced a large portion of Gaza's population.
