Many Schools & colleges closed due to Nipah virus in Kerala..!?
 As a 24-year-old student has died due to the Nipah virus in Kerala's Malappuram district, schools and colleges in the affected area have been announced to be closed indefinitely. The Nipah virus was reported in kerala in 2018. Since then, 5 outbreaks of Nipah virus have been reported. Moreover, only 6 people have survived the Nipah virus infection so far. One from kozhikode district in 2018, one from kochi in 2019, and four from kozhikode in 2023 have survived the Nipah virus. In other words, 17 people died out of 18 victims in 2017. While one person died in 2021 and 2023, this year the number of deaths due to the spread of the Nipah virus has been reported. Currently, a 24-year-old student who showed symptoms of the Nipah virus in Kerala's Malappuram district on september 4 died after 5 days, according to district Medical Officer Renuka. His blood samples were tested at the National Institute of Virology, Pune. He was confirmed to be infected with the Nipah virus on september 9.
This is the second fatality this year after the death of a 14-year-old student in Malappuram last July. With this, 22 people have died due to Nipah virus infection in kerala since 2018 till now. It is said that a total of 28 people have been affected and only 6 people have recovered from it.150 people who were in contact with the deceased are currently under observation. Those who were most closely related to them have been identified and their samples have also been sent for testing. Through this, the district officials have opined that the spread will be controlled. Additional restrictions have also been enforced in Malappuram district. And commercial shops are allowed to open only from 10 am to 7 pm. Pharmacies are an exception.Theaters, Schools, Colleges, Anganwadis, Muslim Madrasahs, and Tuition Centers in Ward 4,5,6,7 and Mampat Gram panchayat Ward 4,5,6,7 of Malappuram in Malappuram have been ordered to remain temporarily closed until further notice. Also, data-face covering is mandatory in public places. Similarly, as a precautionary measure, some restrictions have been announced by the government not only in Malappuram but also in other districts of Kerala. educational institutions have been directed to ensure that everyone including students, teachers, and staff wear masks in schools and public places and ensure that sanitizers are available everywhere. It has been advised that in case of fever, headache, and respiratory problems, it is necessary to go to the hospital immediately and those who show symptoms should self-isolate.
Likewise, ensure that there are social breaks with each other in public places. It has been advised to change the way students sit in the classroom. It is advised to avoid gatherings like sports matches, group activities, morning assemblies, etc. Classrooms, canteens, and libraries have also been ordered to be cleaned several times a day. It has also been advised to speed up awareness-raising activities on Nipah virus in all ways.
