Another Indian Origin Politician Ready to Replace Sunak

G GOWTHAM
In recent years, the UK has had its fair share of political unrest. The country is slowly attempting to regain stability in the wake of Brexit, midterm resignations from prime ministers, and this year's narrow escape from recession. The Conservative party is the same. Following their crushing loss in the general election this year, former prime minister Rishi Sunak resigned from the Tories, and they are now searching for a new leader.

As it turns out, another british indian is vying to follow Sunak, so there may be a one-in, one-out policy for persons of indian descent at the head of the Conservative party. 52-year-old Priti patel will data-face off against five other Tory ministers to become the next head of the opposition.

The indian community may be happy with this development, but they shouldn't count their eggs before they hatch because there are still more voting rounds to go. patel contributes his background as a former home secretary to the previous prime minister, Boris Johnson. Nevertheless, as they are all former cabinet ministers, her rivals are in a similar situation. Could the arrival of a new british indian leader help the Conservatives rebound from their worst-ever defeat? Would the Tories even be willing to elect another indian to the top position? Everything is on the line as the UK parliament reconvenes following its summer recess.
