2 Girls S*Xually Assaulted in Thane School - Cleaner Arrested and Protest Bursts out
A male cleaning staff member is accused of sexually abusing two three-year-old girls who were enrolled in pre-primary courses at a coeducational school in thane District, Maharashtra. The incidents occurred in the girls' restroom. After making an arrest, the police have filed a case. Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of maharashtra, has promised to expedite the investigation and has already assembled a special investigative team to look into it.
An SIT (Special Investigation Team) headed by senior police officer Arti Singh has been tasked with investigating the event, under the directive of maharashtra Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The girls had gone to the bathroom on august 12–13 when the attack took place. The girls' refusal to attend school due to fear following their ordeal led to the revelation of the event. They disclosed the details of the sexual assault that occurred at the school to the parents when they were questioned about the rationale behind their actions.
Akshay Shinde, the accused, was placed on police remand for three days by the court.
The accused was taken into custody by the police on friday night after the girls' parents lodged a complaint.
The school administration informed the police during the investigation that the CCTV cameras were not operational on the day of the event.
Maharashtra education minister deepak Kesarkar stated, "We will see to it that the existing safety measures are further strengthened," in an interview with news agency ANI. We are releasing a circular today stating that all schools must have working CCTVs. We're going to form a committee in schools that is modelled after the Vishaka committee. We'll move this case along quickly and punish the guilty as severely as possible. The class instructor, the principal of the school, and two aides have all been suspended. A notification has also been given to the school. A senior PI who is female and has not yet registered a case ought to be suspended.
Enraged demonstrators stopped the local train at the badlapur railway station, sparking extensive protests across Badlapur.
The demonstrators at the location have been obstructing local trains for the past six hours.
Shops and other businesses in the Badalpur area remained closed on tuesday in observance of the protest. Additionally, the school that was the site of the alleged sexual assault was forced to close. Prominent local politicians attended the protest with their supporters.
After the demonstrators started throwing stones outside the school where the event happened, the police detained them.
