Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan said he had been "hardly".working since 6pm last nigh
Starbucks announced on tuesday that Laxman Narasimhan has stepped down after just 16 months on the job. This decision was due to declining financial results and internal disputes over labor issues. Brian Nicol, the current owner of Chipotle, has been hired to replace Narasimhan. He will start work on september 9. Until then, Starbucks CFO rachel Ruggeri will serve as the company's CEO. Starbucks chairman Melody Hobson will serve as an independent director.
News of Narasimhan's departure has sparked controversy on social media, with many linking his resignation to a recent interview in which he admitted that his workday ends at six clock in the evening to establish a work-life balance.
Narasimhan, the ousted CEO of Starbucks, insisted on maintaining a work-life balance in an interview with Fortune magazine. He told the American business Journal that his workday usually ends at 6 p.m. 18.00, and after-hours commitments need immediate attention.
I am very disciplined when it comes to balance. If there’s anything after 6 pm, and if I am in town, it’s got to be a pretty high bar to keep me away from the family. Anybody who gets a minute of time after that better be sure that it’s important. Because if not, it’ll just wait for another day," Narasimhan said during the interview.
The 57-year-old added, “I do schedule about 150 to 250 minutes of personal exercise over the course of the week. Sometimes, I find myself catching up on a sunday, I must confess but I do have time and I find myself being driven by that time so that at 7 pm on sunday I hit 250 minutes."
“Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan recently said that he doesn’t work past 6 pm and that if anyone at Starbucks gets a minute of his time after 6 pm they ‘better be sure that it’s important. — He was fired today.
Another: "You look smart if you say the tree will do well. But if it doesn't, you'll fire it."
"Wow. Starbucks just stole the CEO of Chipotle. Laxman Narasimhan is out, Brian Nicol is in. "I don't know if he talks to her after 6pm," the fourth joked.
"I'm excited to join Starbucks and grateful to have the opportunity to help support this amazing company alongside hundreds of thousands of dedicated friends," nicole said before taking the work.
I have long admired Starbucks' iconic brand, unique culture and commitment to strengthening human relationships around the world. As I embark on this journey, I feel extremely motivated to drive growth and enhance the Starbucks experience for our customers and colleagues, while staying true to our mission and our values.
