Over 1500 annual deaths in Hyderabad linked to Air Pollution

According to a survey, air pollution is a contributing factor in over 1,500 fatalities in hyderabad annually. Research that was published in The Lancet Planetary health journal states that exposure to particulate matter (PM) 2.5 is responsible for 5.6% of fatalities that occurred in hyderabad between 2008 and 2019.

5,552 fatalities in hyderabad between 2008 and 2019 were linked to air pollution, according to a study done by researchers from Ashoka University, the Centre for Chronic Disease Control, the Karolinska Institute, Harvard University, and Boston University, among other institutions. There were 1,597 fatalities in the city each year that were related to exposure to PM 2.5.

The World health Organisation (WHO) standards for acceptable exposure to PM2.5 were found to be exceeded in 10 of the largest and most polluted cities in India, including delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and hyderabad, where PM2.5 levels were responsible for an average of 7.2% of all daily fatalities.
 
According to research, delhi has the highest percentage of annual and daily fatalities linked to PM2.5 air pollution, which is produced by particles with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less.
