In the presence of telangana chief minister A. revanth reddy, six BRS MLCs joined the congress late last night, delivering a serious blow to the party led by K. chandrasekhar Rao. Following its loss in the previous year's assembly elections, a number of leaders, including six MLAs, have deserted the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which is still beset by defections.

The telangana Legislative Council website states that congress presently has four members and BRS has twenty-five. Two members of AIMIM, one each of the bjp, PRTU, and an independent MLC, make up the four nominated MLCs. The 40-member parliament has two open seats. Shortly after revanth Reddy's return from a two-day visit to the nation's capital on thursday night, the MLCs became members of the Congress. Congress's numerical advantage in the legislative council is expected to increase to ten due to the recent defections.
