Corruption and Criminal Negligence of Modi Govt - Opposition Lashes on Delhi Airport Roof Collapse

Prime minister Narendra Modi came under fire from opposition leaders on friday after part of the roof of delhi airport's Terminal 1 collapsed in the midst of intense rain, killing one person. PM Modi opened Terminal 1, which was recently enlarged to hold more people, in March.

On march 10, prime minister Modi dedicated or placed the cornerstone for fifteen airport projects totaling over Rs 9,800 crore throughout the nation. One of these projects was the opening of Delhi's indira gandhi International Airport's upgraded Terminal 1. PM Modi was accused by the opposition leaders of "hurriedly inaugurating" a "incomplete terminal" in order to promote the lok sabha polls.

Congress chief mallikarjun Kharge accused the Modi government of "corruption and criminal negligence" in infrastructure projects in the last 10 years. "Corruption and criminal negligence is responsible for the collapse of shoddy infrastructure falling like a deck of cards, in the past 10 years of Modi government," he said. "On march 10, when Modi ji inaugurated the delhi airport T1, he called himself 'doosri mitti ka insaan'. All this false bravado and rhetoric was only reserved for quickly indulging in ribbon-cutting ceremonies before elections! Our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the delhi airport tragedy. They bore the brunt of a corrupt, inept and selfish government," Kharge added.
