Telangana Hyderabad - Extended Power Cuts Irk Residents

SIBY JEYYA
On the day of Eid al-Adha, several residents of hyderabad were irritated by protracted power outages. Long-lasting blackouts occurred in a few places, including Kondapur, banjara hills, Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Film Nagar, and Sanathnagar.

The electricity supply in banjara hills and the surrounding regions has been disrupted for about seven hours. We had to stay in the dark yesterday since it's Eid. We have been without electricity for more than seven hours. The officials have not responded at all. We were forced to eat supper by flashlight on our phones," one irate Masab Tank resident remarked.

“This is the new norm. We continue to suffer without electricity for hours in a supposedly developed city,” said another resident of the same area.

Many expressed frustration over the department’s inability to quickly resolve the issue, leaving them without electricity for hours on the significant holiday.
Many residents took to microblogging site X to express their frustration.

Authorities blamed the outages on the afternoon's intense rains, which harmed the infrastructure responsible for supplying power. Transformer explosions in many locations exacerbated the issue.

"Our men are on the ground working to restore the power supply," an electrical department official said in an interview with india Herald. He continued by saying that several employees were absent because of the Eid vacation, which also contributed to a delay in some regions' power restoration.
