Beant Singh's grandson slated to become Union Minister...Union home minister amit shah - A friend of mine is Ravneet Bittu, for the previous five years, we have been friends. Vote for him, send him to Parliament, and it is my job to help him grow into a large man, former Union home minister amit shah declared on May 26 at a rally in Punjab's Ludhiana. Bittu (48) lost the most recent lok sabha election from Ludhiana, but Shah appears to have stood by his word since on Sunday, the former two-time ludhiana MP will take the oath of office as a minister of State (MoS) in narendra Modi's Cabinet. Bittu was selected by the bjp ahead of musician Hans raj Hans who lost from Faridkot, former IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu who lost from Bathinda, former patiala MP Preneet Kaur, who was the wife of former punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, and former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu. In the state, the bjp has been unable to establish an account.Bittu, a three-time congress member, was initially elected from Anandpur Sahib to the lok sabha in 2009; he later won from ludhiana in 2014 and 2019. He joined the bjp before the most recent lok sabha election, but Amrinder Singh raja Warring, the leader of the punjab congress, defeated him by little over 20,000 votes. Due to farmers' protests against the bjp, Bittu lost badly in rural areas despite leading in five urban segments. Bittu was only 11 years old when his father passed away, and he was 20 years old when pro-Khalistan militants killed his grandfather, former punjab Chief minister Beant Singh, in chandigarh on august 31, 1995. Bittu's foray into politics was made possible by a meeting with congress president rahul gandhi in 2007. Bittu has previously operated a tiny cement manufacturing facility."I went to congratulate rahul gandhi on his appointment as general secretary of the indian Youth congress (IYC) at that time. He advised me to honor my grandfather's legacy and selflessness. He advised me to get involved in politics. Bittu said, "He could relate because we both experienced the anguish of losing family members at a recent interview. In 2008, he was named chief of the punjab Youth Congress. That made him 33 years old. Bittu, who hails from the ludhiana district's Kotla Afghana hamlet, comes from a family of Congressmen; nevertheless, the family became politically divided after Bittu joined the BJP. His cousin Gurkirat Kotli served as both a cabinet minister and a two-time MLA. His paternal uncle Tej Parkash Singh was also a former cabinet minister. Both remain members of the congress and participated in the party's lok sabha election campaign.
