Priyanka Gandhi unlikely to contest Lok Sabha elections

Given the continuous uncertainty surrounding the party's choices for the prominent Amethi and Raebareli lok sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, sources close to the congress leader priyanka gandhi Vadra informed india Today tv that she is unlikely to run in the lok sabha elections.

According to the reports, priyanka gandhi would only run for office, and congress MP rahul Gandhi's choice to run for office from Amethi or Raebareli will be decided within a day.

This comes a day after sources told india Today tv that the gandhi siblings should run for Amethi and Raebareli, as advised by the party's Central election Committee, to congress president mallikarjun Kharge.

Congress officials, including the Uttar Pradesh general secretary, made a compelling case for rahul gandhi and priyanka gandhi as the party's nominees at the meeting, they said.

On May 20, voters in Amethi and Raebareli will cast ballots.

Rahul gandhi lost to Union minister Smriti Irani in the 2019 lok sabha elections in Amethi, a stronghold of the congress that he had served as representative for from 2004 to 2014.

This year, rahul gandhi is running for reelection from the wayanad lok sabha constituency in Kerala, which was decided by ballot on april 26.

In the meanwhile, earlier this month, former congress president sonia gandhi resigned from her position as representative of Raebareli, which she had held since 2004 in order to join the Rajya Sabha.

At a news conference on april 27, the tension between Amethi and Raebareli was raised. Kharge was questioned about the BJP's criticism of rahul gandhi for contesting the elections from wayanad rather than Amethi.

In response, the president of the congress stated, "Those questioning congress leaders for changing constituencies must also tell me how many times have (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee and (Lal Krishna) Advani changed their seats."
