With 88 parliamentary seats spread across 13 states and one Union Territory scheduled to cast ballots, the 2024 lok sabha elections entered their second round on Friday. The india Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the weather prediction was usual, with hot conditions continuing in numerous states.

Voters may cast their ballots with ease because the weather is expected to be within normal limits, according to a statement released by the election commission of india (ECI) on Thursday. All polling places, including amenities, have been planned for hot weather to make voting easier for voters.

To accommodate voters in such weather circumstances, the polling hours have been extended until 6 PM in several polling places around the bihar seats of Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria, and Munger, according to a PIB release. "Water, a shed, restrooms, ramps, volunteers, wheelchairs, and electricity are in place to ensure that every voter, including the elderly and people with disabilities, can cast their vote with ease," the statement continued. The steps taken to deal with the hot heat have received particular attention.

"DG IMD today informed the election commission that there is no major concern with regard to heat wave for phase 2 of the General elections scheduled on april 26 of this month," the election commission stated in a statement on april 22. For the thirteen states and territories holding Phase 2 elections, the weather prediction is typical. The Commission met with relevant agencies today to comprehend the evolving weather situation and talk about steps to reduce any risk associated with hot weather during the general election period, given reports of above-normal temperatures and heat waves in some areas of the nation.
