Supreme Court issues notice - Vyas basement.!
The mosque committee lodged a petition in the supreme court opposing worship in the Vyas basement of Gyanvapi. During the proceedings, the mosque's legal representative, Huzaifa Ahmadi, highlighted that although the lower court had provided a week to execute the order, the government acted promptly, and the high court did not grant relief. He urged the supreme court to immediately halt worship in the Vyas basement.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud remarked during the hearing that the basement's entrance is from the south, while the mosque's entrance is from the north, and both activities do not interfere with each other. He suggested that, for the time being, both puja and namaz should continue in their respective places.
However, shyam Diwan, the lawyer representing the Vyas family, opposed issuing a formal notice, stating that the matter is still unresolved in the lower courts, and supreme court intervention is unnecessary at this stage. Nonetheless, the supreme court proceeded to issue the notice.
