In place of the prefix "TS," the Union government approved the use of "TG" on car registration number plates on Tuesday. According to the office of telangana Special Representative in New delhi Mallu Ravi, the Union government has also published a gazette notification to this effect.
At first, rumors were circulating that even owners of older vehicles could need to convert to the new series and alter their license plates. The owners would have to pay at least Rs 400 for the new number plates if all cars were to get the new numbers or series. In a few days, the Transport Department will also announce instructions related to this. It is acting to prevent adding to the workload for drivers.
Currently, telangana has more than 1.60 crore automobiles. Every day, almost 10,000 new cars are registered throughout the State. Nonetheless, the authorities intend to provide TG license plates to recently registered cars. The present "TS"-emblazoned number plates will remain in use. Additionally, 30 lakh cars still had andhra pradesh registration plates on them when the state split.
At the moment, cars with ap series number plates (cars purchased before june 2014) or TS series number plates (cars purchased in telangana State) are owned by people living in 33 districts of Telangana. A sizable portion of drivers were in possession of and operating both TS and ap series automobiles. Residents of telangana will now be driving on roadways with cars with the three registration codes TS, ap, and TG as a result of the recent ruling.
