As the lok sabha elections draw near, all eyes are on the hotly contested faridabad lok sabha seat in Haryana, historically characterized by a tussle between congress and BJP. The electoral history of this constituency reveals a consistent showdown between the two major parties since 1991, often featuring candidates from the gurjar and Jat communities. Krishnapal gurjar, the current bjp representative, clinched a significant victory in 2019, highlighting the prominence of the gurjar community.

Traditionally, congress has placed its bets on gurjar candidates, and the challenge this time lies in selecting a formidable contender. Potential aspirants include Vijay Pratap, son of former minister Mahendra Pratap, seeking redemption from a previous assembly defeat. Another gurjar hopeful is senior congress leader Yashpal Nagar, known for his robust community support and positive public image.

Meanwhile, former minister Karan Singh Dalal, despite a setback in the last assembly elections, is actively vying for a lok sabha ticket and holds the advantage of close ties with former chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda. The decision to choose between gurjar and Jat candidates is pivotal for congress, reflecting the historical caste dynamics of the region and playing a crucial role in shaping the party's electoral prospects in the faridabad constituency.
