Maharashtra bjp mla Ganpat Gaikwad, who shot shiv sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad, blamed the event on chief minister Eknath Shinde. Ganpat Gaikwad told a tv channel over the phone before his detention on friday that Eknath Shinde "made me a criminal".
In an audio tape of the telephonic call circulating following the event, the bjp mla from kalyan East Ganpat stated, "My son was manhandled at the police station, and my land was forcibly taken from me." If Eknath Shinde remains Maharashtra's chief minister, we will only see an increase in criminal activity. He turned a fine guy like me into a criminal today." The bjp mla said that his son was "beaten up" at the police station, and that he shot Mahesh Gaikwad in response.
"I was upset, so I started fire. I don't have any regrets. What should I do if someone beats up my son at the police station? Ganpat Gaikwad claimed, "I didn't mean to murder them.
According to PTI, he also claimed to have shot five bullets at Mahesh Gaikwad. According to authorities, eleven rounds of gunfire were discharged during the preliminary investigation.
HOW LAND DISPUTE LED TO SHOOTING

Ganpat Gaikwad stated that there were some legal complications around a plot of property, but they won the case in court. However, Mahesh Gaikwad claimed to have occupied it by force.
The mla stated that his son had gone to the ulhasnagar police station to file a complaint over the land.

Thane Additional police Commissioner Datta Shinde stated that Ganpat Gaikwad, his son, and Mahesh Gaikwad, along with a few others, had gone to the police station. Based on the CCTV footage of the event, he stated there was "no question" that the bjp mla fired in self-defense.
