Trump responds to Nikki Haley's jab at his age

Donald trump remarked on saturday that he feels "sharper now than I did 20 years ago," in response to recent assaults on his age and linguistic gaffes by Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. trump also stated that presidential candidates should be required to take a cognitive test, in response to a challenge from Haley, who has argued for the same legislation, noting Trump's age of 77 and Democratic President Joe Biden's age of 81.
Trump was speaking at a rally in Nevada ahead of the next Republican presidential nomination contest, a state caucus on february 8. In recent days, Haley has accused former Republican President trump of confusion and questioned his competence to serve as president at his age.
Trump has recently committed some linguistic gaffes. During a speech on january 19, he mistook Haley for former Democratic house Speaker Nancy Pelosi. On occasion, he appeared to slur his words and implied that previous Democratic President barack obama was still in office.
Because Haley will not compete in the caucus, trump is nearly certain to win all 26 Nevada delegates. He targeted both Haley and Biden, hoping to knock Haley out of the Republican nomination race while gaining an early advantage in a possible general election rematch with Biden in November.
Trump's back-to-back victories in the Iowa and New hampshire Republican primaries have all but guaranteed him his party's presidential candidature. But he is furious because Haley, his final surviving Republican opponent, has refused to withdraw.
Trump and his allies have launched a campaign to pull Haley out of the race before the next big primary vote, scheduled for february 24 in her home state of South Carolina. trump has vowed to expel any contributors who continue to support Haley.
Haley has committed to continue campaigning in South Carolina and beyond.
Trump used the derogatory term "birdbrain" to refer to Haley during his Nevada address. He also accused Haley, a staunch Republican, of being "almost a radical left Democrat".
Trump proclaimed, "It's time to finish this," alluding to his nomination campaign. He leads Haley in South Carolina polls, and she has no clear route to the nomination.
Following Trump's victory in the New hampshire primary on january 23, the Biden campaign issued a statement declaring, "It is now clear that donald trump will be the Republican nominee."
Turning his attention to Biden, trump spent much of his address about the southern data-border.
Since Biden entered office in 2021, record numbers of migrants have been apprehended illegally crossing the US-Mexico data-border, and opinion surveys indicate that immigration and the data-border will be a major issue in this year's general election.
Trump referred to illegal crossings as a "catastrophe," a "invasion," and the southern data-border as a "open wound."
Meanwhile, Biden and his campaign aides have intensified their attacks on trump in recent days, labelling him a threat to US democracy and linking him to the US supreme Court's 2022 decision to end federal abortion rights, which has been blamed for Republicans losing the 2022 midterm elections.
