Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja's daughter Bhavatharini dies in Sri Lanka....


Bhavatharini, a 47-year-old National Award-winning playback vocalist and the daughter of renowned music director Ilaiyaraaja, passed away on Thursday. She reportedly passed away from liver cancer while receiving treatment in Sri Lanka.


Renowned for her poignant performances, Bhavatharini passed away tonight in sri lanka at approximately 5:00 p.m. On january 26, her body is anticipated to be returned to Chennai, when the last ceremonies will be performed.

Bharathiraja, an actor and filmmaker, who is friends with Ilaiyaraaja, posted on X, saying, "How will I console my dear friend?" Our family has lost an essential member with Bhavatharani's passing.

Remembering Bhavatharini, chinmayi Sripaada wrote on X, "One of the nicest people I knew was Bhavatharini Ilayaraja." Lovely girl, travel safely. I ask for and pray for strength for Yuvan shankar Raja, karthik Raja, and raja sir. This truly breaks my heart. 


Following the success of "Raasaiya," Bhavatharini began singing professionally. She has since contributed her melodic voice to several tamil films, performing for composers such as her father Ilaiyaraaja and her brothers karthik and Yuvan shankar Raja. She also contributed her vocals to songs written by Sirpy and Deva.

Bhavatharini made her film debut in 2002 with the Revathy-directed picture Mitr, My Friend. She went on to compose music for Phir Milenge and several other movies. Her final musical project was composed for the malayalam movie Maayanadhi.

Hit songs for tamil movies like Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Bharathi, Azhagi, Friends, Paa, Mankatha, and Anegan are among those found in her vast repertoire. For her performance in the tamil song "Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu" from Bharathi, Bhavatharini was also awarded the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
