Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra enters Bengal amid INDIA bloc discord
"I am glad to have arrived to West Bengal. We've come here to listen and stand with you... The BJP-RSS are fostering hatred, violence, and injustice. So, the india formation will fight 'anyay' (injustice) jointly," Rahul gandhi told a crowd in bengal, to loud shouts. He also stated that he is "very happy" with how he was received in the eastern state.
Rahul gandhi, a congress mp, adds, "I am delighted to have visited West Bengal. We've come here to listen and stand with you...The BJP-RSS are fostering hatred, violence, and injustice. So, the india formation will battle 'Anyay' united.
The rally arrived in bengal a day after chief minister and trinamool congress supremo mamata banerjee, a major member of the india alliance, announced that her party will run alone in the next lok sabha elections in the state.
She cited unsuccessful seat-sharing discussions with congress as the cause for her withdrawal.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra reached bengal after finishing its trek in Assam. It travelled through Golakganj in the northeastern state before entering Cooch Behar. Rahul gandhi boarded a sports utility vehicle from Gauripur in assam after spending the night there, followed by a bus to Golakganj.
A large throng joined the voyage to catch a sight of the former congress president.
Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra drew police attention in assam, with a FIR filed against the congress MP. Cops have now referred the case to the state criminal investigation division.
The charge was filed following a scuffle between congress activists and police when the demonstration was denied permission to reach Assam's capital, guwahati, via its primary routes. The altercation happened after the assam government, led by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, urged the yatra to avoid the city and instead take the guwahati bypass. police prevented the yatra from entering the city, sparking protests among congress workers.
Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra began on january 14 in Manipur and ends on march 20 in Mumbai.
