A total of 15,500 police officers would be stationed in and around marina beach in chennai on january 17, the last day of pongal celebrations in the state, to guarantee security during Kaanum Pongal. For heightened security, an additional 1,500 home Guards officers will be on duty. Three makeshift mini-control rooms are placed in a deliberate manner along the path connecting the gandhi and Labour statues, as stated in an official press release.
