For Kaanum pongal, 15,500 police officers deployed...

A total of 15,500 police officers would be stationed in and around marina beach in chennai on january 17, the last day of pongal celebrations in the state, to guarantee security during Kaanum Pongal. For heightened security, an additional 1,500 home Guards officers will be on duty. Three makeshift mini-control rooms are placed in a deliberate manner along the path connecting the gandhi and Labour statues, as stated in an official press release. Additionally, police aid stations are open at the entrances to the seven service roads that connect the LightHouse to the Labour Statue. Eight ambulances with medical teams on board, two fire tenders, 200 volunteer swimmers, and mechanized boats will also be kept on call.

In addition, 13 more CCTV cameras will be installed and controlled from the temporary control center, resulting in the construction of three improvised police watch towers. There will be temporary fencing around the coast since it is not allowed for the public to bathe in the sea. Eighty-five police officers, including a coastal security group anti-drowning unit, will be assigned to watch over coastal regions and make sure people stay out of the sea.

Elliots beach has set up three watchtowers and one temporary control room as part of the preparations for increased security. Two ambulances, fire fighters, experienced swimmers who volunteer, and motorboats will also be on standby. Identity cards will be available at all police aid booths and control rooms to keep kids from getting lost in the crowd. When traveling with kids, parents are advised to get an ID card, fill it out with the child's name, parent's name, address, and phone number, and then firmly attach it to the child.
