On Monday, delhi experienced its coldest morning this winter, with the lowest temperature dropping to 3.3°C at Safdarjung, the national capital's official meteorological station. Another weather monitoring station in delhi, Lodhi Road, recorded a low temperature of 3.1°C.

The national capital's lowest temperature has steadily dropped in recent days due to harsh weather conditions caused by a severe cold wave and heavy fog. On sunday, Delhi's lowest temperature was 3.5°C in Safdarjung and 3.4°C at Lodhi Road. Since Friday, the temperature in delhi has hovered below 4 degrees Celsius, causing inhabitants to suffer in the severe cold.

Thick fog shrouded the city this morning, as it had on sunday and the previous days. Flightradar24, a flight tracking service, said that over 100 planes were delayed at Delhi's indira gandhi International Airport. According to the india Meteorological Department's (IMD) morning advisory, visibility at the airport and around the capital was near nil.

Due to the heavy fog conditions, the delhi airport issued an advise to customers, recommending that they contact airlines before going. On sunday, as many as ten planes were diverted, around 100 delayed, and a handful cancelled at delhi International airport owing to reduced visibility caused by intense fog.
