Central and state governments are taking measures for this after the spread of bird flu in Kerala. The Union health Ministry on thursday sent a 7-member high-level team to investigate the bird flu outbreak in Kerala. According to reports, the team will conduct an investigation and submit a report. The committee will also submit recommendations on bird flu. Bird flu has been reported in Kerala's alappuzha district. Officials have started culling 20,000 birds to prevent the spread of the disease in the Valhudanam ward of Hariabad municipality. Officials said that all necessary measures are being taken at a fast pace to prevent the spread of the infection.
Bird flu was confirmed in kerala after samples of dead birds were sent for analysis to the National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal. Officials have decided that all birds located within a radius of one km from the epicenter of the disease will be destroyed from october 28. Eight Rapid Action Teams (RRTs) of 10 members each have been engaged to carry out this work under the orders of veterinarians and related central regulations. While the work of killing the birds was going on, officials from various departments including people's representatives, the revenue department, and health visited the affected areas.
After the completion of these works, the health Department will continue to monitor Haripadu Municipality, Pallipattu Panchayat, and surrounding areas. Transport of birds within a radius of one kilometer where the disease has spread is prohibited. The sale and consumption of eggs and meat of native birds including duck, chicken, and quail are prohibited in Haribad municipality and various nearby panchayats. Committees called purse scots have been set up to ensure that no one sells or consumes the eggs and meat of native birds in these areas. There is a risk of bird flu transmission due to the possibility of disease transmission from birds to humans. Therefore, residents of these areas have been asked to be vigilant.
