Dejected with TDP, Rayapati eyeing BJP?
rayapati Sambasiva Rao, a seasoned politician from guntur and a former telugu desam party mp from the Narsaraopet legislative district, is rumoured to be considering joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. rayapati, who spent a considerable amount of time in the congress party, left the organisation in 2014 because he opposed the division of the combined state. He ran for office from the narasaraopet constituency.
He was disappointed with the tdp leadership, nevertheless, as his business, Transstroy india Ltd., lost the polavaram project contract in 2017. He was however handed the mp nomination by the tdp once more in 2019, but he was soundly defeated by Lavu srikrishna Devarayalu of the YSRCP. rayapati has avoided the TDP's activities and the constituency ever since. However, his son rayapati Ranga Rao, who hails from Sattenapalli, is actively involved in the tdp and is seeking to be the party's candidate in the upcoming assembly elections.
It's interesting to note that rayapati went to the recent review meeting on guntur and lobbied for his son's Sattenapalli party ticket as well as his Narsaraopet mp seat. Naidu didn't respond to his demand, though. Ranga Rao, along with a select few others, such as Kodela Shivaram, are running for the assembly seat, but Naidu has refused to make any promises regarding the party ticket at this time. rayapati is rumoured to have reached out to the bjp leadership for assurance after he was unable to obtain any from Naidu.
