MK Stalin, the chief minister of tamil Nadu, has written to prime minister Narendra Modi, requesting that the Coal Ministry issue an order ensuring the supply of 72,000 metric tonnes of coal per day during the state's power outage. MK Stalin, the chief minister of tamil Nadu, wrote a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi today (April 22), requesting that the Coal Ministry issue an order ensuring the supply of 72,000 metric tonnes of coal per day to the ports of Paradip and Visakhapatnam under the Fuel Supply Agreement in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply in tamil Nadu.

The chief minister of tamil Nadu stated in the letter that adequate coal from the Tulsar mines in odisha was required to supply the power plants in tamil Nadu, and that the manufacturers in tamil Nadu required 72,000 metric tonnes of coal, whereas the daily supply was only 50,000 metric tonnes at the time. Despite the fact that coal production in tamil Nadu was sufficient to meet the growing demand for summer power, the chief minister said he was aware that it was not being transported to the ports due to a shortage of train racks, and that the stock of coal at power plants in the state had reached alarming levels.

The tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation estimates that 22 ports will transport 72,000 metric tonnes of coal per day to the ports of Paradip and Visakhapatnam.
