22 YouTube channels have been banned by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for propagating false information about India's national security and foreign relations. Under India's new Information technology Act 2021, the Union Ministry has taken this action. For propagating misleading information, it also banned 22 YouTube-based news channels, three Twr accounts, a data-facebook account, and a news agency's website. Four of the 22 YouTube channels are from Pakistan.
According to reports, these 22 YouTube channels had a combined audience of about 260 million people. According to reports, action has been taken against indian YouTube channels for the first time under the new legal measures for breaking the regulations. The action appears to have been leaked to some YouTube channels for the purpose of spreading false information about India's involvement in the ukraine crisis.

Since december 2021, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an injunction against 78 YouTube channels. Similarly, a number of social media profiles that promote false information on India's sovereignty, integrity, and national security have been deactivated.
