The Central Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises has launched the Samarth Special Entrepreneurship Scheme to promote women entrepreneurs in small, micro and medium enterprises.
The project was launched in the context of the celebration of Women's Day around the world.
Introducing the Samarth project, Union minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises narayan rane said, “The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector offers a lot of opportunities to women. Our Ministry is constantly taking steps to develop entrepreneurial skills among women. Programs have been introduced to give women the opportunity to advance themselves
About 20 per cent of those in the trade segment of small, medium and micro enterprises will be sent to domestic and foreign professional exhibitions. The marketing assistance he needs will be provided on behalf of the Ministry. ”
Meanwhile, Glory Swaroop, director of the National Center for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said in a report to the federal government on women entrepreneurs that the share of women in micro, small and medium enterprises is currently 12 percent. This should be raised to 25 per cent within the next 3 years.
Trouble getting credit
There are 6.70 crore small and medium enterprises operating in India. Of these, only 80 lakh companies are run by women. The biggest challenge women data-face is finance.
If a woman entrepreneur applies for a loan for business development it is rejected, or the loan is denied. Many women have been running start-ups for the past few years without the help of any bank loans. ”
