On monday at approximately 10 p.m., a U-Haul truck struck the white house gates and the driver purposely drives into it from the outside. The driver, Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, of Chesterfield, Missouri, has been recognised by the US Secret service and US Park Police. Authorities reportedly discovered a Nazi flag inside the vehicle along with some personal items.
Sai Varshith Kandula was detained in connection with the event on suspicion of trespassing, assault with a weapon of great danger, careless operation of a motor vehicle, and making threats to hurt or kill the president, vice president, or a member of their family. Kandula allegedly informed police authorities that "he wanted to seize power, take over the government, and kill the president," according to reports.
The'mental health component' of the incident and Kandula's potential neo-Nazi sympathies are apparently being investigated by the Secret Services.
