Reshmi (33) hails from Kottayam, Kerala. She was working as a nurse in a government hospital. A few days ago, she ate Albama chicken and Mandi Biryani at a restaurant in Kottayam. After that, she had vomiting and diarrhea within a few hours. She was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment. However, her condition continued to deteriorate. In this case, reshmi died without treatment. In addition, more than 20 people who ate at the same restaurant suffered from vomiting and diarrhea and were admitted to the hospital for treatment. After the death of the nurse, the Food Safety Department raided the restaurant where she had biryani and sealed the shop. They are also investigating whether the food is poisonous.
After this incident, health minister Veena George ordered to conduct of an inspection of all the restaurants in Kottayam. health minister Veena George said that the food safety department conducted a surprise inspection in 429 restaurants in the state on Tuesday. And out of them, 43 companies were ordered to close. Notices were sent to 138 restaurants and food samples from 44 restaurants were sent for testing. The minister said that the investigations will continue in the coming days.
Protests erupted soon after the news of Reshmi's death broke. Members of the indian Democratic youth Federation attacked the restaurant and broke its name board. It is noteworthy that last year the incident of the death of a college student after eating chicken shawarma created a lot of excitement in Kerala.
