States Having High Suicide Rates - SHOCKING REPORT

SIBY JEYYA
According to NCRB data, states with higher literacy rates and greater economic prosperity have the highest suicide rates (per 1 lakh people). These states, like kerala and Telangana, are frequently plagued by mental health issues like anxiety and depression, which are thought to have been made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing conditions.
Maharashtra and tamil Nadu are the two states with the highest suicide rates. The NCRB report for 2021 reveals that while the rate declines in poor states like Bihar, affluent states such as madhya pradesh have the third-highest suicide rate. This is partly due to better reporting.
Our social media response is troubling in a nation where 1.64 lakh people committed suicide in 2021. This represents a 7.2% increase from 2020. 1.39 lakh persons murdered themselves in 2019 alone. Since 1967, NCRB data have been accessible. Regarding the shock that young people are taking their own lives, NCRB data reveals that suicide rates have increased across all age groups, while the causes of these increases vary.
Three-quarters of suicide victims are men, despite the fact that women are more likely to be diagnosed with suicidal inclinations and to attempt suicide. This illustrates the complexity of the suicide phenomena. Men having easier access to violent tools and being more prone to repressing tough feelings like melancholy that could develop into danger over time are two potential explanations for this discrepancy.
Due to the same stigma, many families also choose not to report poisoning, hanging, drowning, gunshot, or burning deaths. On the other side, the Dowry Prohibition Act may be used to bring legal action against the in-laws in the case of a married woman's suicide death. What the statistics fails to reveal is that suicide is a serious possibility regardless of social standing and age. Actual mental diseases do exist. They do not discriminate against their victims depending on factors like their bank balance, unlike physical ailments. But we're trained to ask: How can someone take her life, especially if that person is young and prospering in the conventional sense?
