Poultry farmers struggle..! Refusal of Chickens..!?
There are 650 poultry farms in the madurai district. Poultry farmers receive and maintain chicks from private companies. They get Rs 6.50 per kilo for this. As there has been no action so far, they have been fighting since yesterday not to get the chickens from the companies.
Poultry Farmers Association Executive Committee Member Balpandi: The cost of poultry farming has increased, including the things needed for poultry like charcoal, coconut cotton, electricity, and water. Thus the interest could not even be paid. Those who buy and sell chicken in one day get it for Rs.120 per kg and sell it for Rs.180 to Rs.220.
They are also given incentives. But there is no profit for them in growing for 40 days. Companies have to pay between Rs 12 - and Rs 15 per kilo. The struggle will continue until talks are held. Sending for sale will soon decrease as the chicken has stopped being taken. This is likely to increase the price of chicken meat.
Already the price of many essential things has risen up including sunflower oil, gas cylinder, tomatoes, etc. This chicken meat price increase will also make people worry.
