Balasahana Suresh
Handing your phone to someone else, even for a short time, can expose your personal data, messages, photos, and apps. Many modern smartphones offer features to protect your privacy when lending your device to others.

1. What This Button Does

  • This is usually the “Guest Mode”, App Lock, or Screen Pinning feature, depending on your phone model (Android or iOS).
  • Activating this feature restricts access to selected apps and sensitive information.
  • The person using your phone can only interact with allowed apps or a specific screen, preventing accidental or intentional access to private data.
2. How to Activate Screen Pinning on Android

Go to Settings → Security → Screen Pinning (or Navigation → Advanced → Screen Pinning).

Turn on the feature.

Open the app you want to share and tap the Pin icon (usually in the recent apps screen).

To unpin, press Back + Recent Apps buttons simultaneously (or follow your phone’s specific unpinning instructions).

Tip: You can also require a password, PIN, or fingerprint to unpin for extra security.

3. How to Use Guided Access on iOS

Open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access.

Enable Guided Access and set a passcode.

Open the app you want to share, then triple-click the side/home button to start Guided Access.

Limit touch, motion, or hardware buttons as needed.

To exit, triple-click and enter your passcode.

Guided Access allows you to lock the phone to a single app, preventing access to other apps or content.

4. Benefits of Using This Feature

  • Protects sensitive messages and photos from being viewed.
  • Prevents accidental deletion or modification of apps and files.
  • Controls access for kids, friends, or colleagues temporarily.
  • Maintains privacy when letting someone borrow your phone for a call or app usage.
5. Additional Tips

  • Combine with App Lock to secure messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or email apps.
  • For temporary lending, disable notifications or use Do Not Disturb to hide sensitive alerts.
  • Always update your phone to access the latest privacy and security features.
