Starlink connection introduced in ios 18.3: what is it and how does it work

 Apple ios 18.3 is finally here, bringing a host of new features and bug fixes. In addition to mainstream features, the company  also introduced  a new satellite connection, starlink connection.  After the satellite connection feature was introduced in 2022, ios 18.3  further improves the feature. According to a bloomberg report, apple has secretly worked with space x and t-mobile to bring starlink satellite connection to the iphone. According to reports, t-mobile has begun testing an early version of the starlink service with a limited number of iphones. The rollout coincided with the release of ios 18.3, but apple didn't highlight the change in the update's release notes. How does it work? With starlink  on  apple,  users can now send text messages even when they don't have cellular service. But what's different? The company explains that if a t-mobile iphone loses a cellular signal, devices in the starlink program will try to connect to spacex satellites. Users can also enable sms sending through globalstar's satellite menu and contact emergency services through apple. 

Currently, starlink only supports text messaging, but spacex and t-mobile plan to add data and voice services later.  The program is currently only available  in the u.s., unlike apple's globalstar service, which is available in multiple countries. Spacex plans to expand starlink to other providers around the world. The bloomberg report also highlighted another key difference: apple's current feature requires users to manually point their iphone towards the sky to connect to satellites. In contrast, the starlink option is designed to work automatically even when the phone is in the user's pocket.

Ios 18.3 update: what's new aside from starlink connectivity, apple has  improved some of its existing features and introduced some new ones. Repeat actions in calculator returns: ios 18.3 brings back repeat actions in the calculator app, a popular  ios 17 feature that was removed in ios 18. Its return was welcomed by users who rely on it for fast and efficient calculations.

What's new for the iphone 16 series: this update improves camera controls for iphone 16 users, enabling auto exposure and auto focus lock with a simple press and hold of the camera control button. The new visual intelligence feature allows you to seamlessly create calendar events by scanning posters with date and location details, and even identify plants and animals in real time. This is perfect for nature lovers. Improved notification summaries: notification summaries in ios 18.3 now appear in italic text, making them easier to distinguish from standard notifications. Improved genmoji accessibility and security: it's now easier to create and use genmoji  in messages and other supported apps. On the security front, the update fixes 20 bugs and introduces protections to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive audio and video data on your iphone.
