According to Intelsat, this incident happened due to some anomaly on Saturday, october 19. Its 33e satellite had stopped working.

Intelsat has said in a statement, "We are working closely with the satellite manufacturer, Boeing and government agencies to examine the data and observations received in this matter. A review board has been formed to find out the cause of the anomaly in the satellite." It further said, "We have been actively talking to Intelsat affected customers and partners since the anomaly came to light.

US Space Force also confirmed

The US Space Force has said in a statement that the US Space Force - Space (S4S) confirms the breakdown of Intelsat 33E in GEO on Saturday, october 19, 2024 at around 0430 UTC. Currently, about 20 pieces of the satellite are being monitored, investigation is ongoing. However, it is not yet clear how many pieces of the satellite have actually broken. According to a Space news report, satellite tracking company ExoAnalytic Solutions has said that it is monitoring 57 pieces of satellite debris.
