The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information technology has warned that you should be alert if you receive a message on your smartphone saying 'Diwali gift'. The present world has become digital. Various tasks rely on digital. Even government departments are being digitized. Earlier everything from birth certificates to death certificates had to rely heavily on paper usage. Nowadays you can easily download these certificates online.Banking services are no exception. Any amount can be transferred from one bank account to another bank account these days. Many leading companies have developed special apps for this. Most people are using them. Thus the facilities are increasing day by day due to the tremendous development of technology. people can easily access all services digitally. While a lot of positive things are happening digitally, hackers with technology at their fingertips have taken to hacking our smartphones and computers.
They disable smartphones and computers and take control of their devices. Some gangs use this method to steal passwords and steal money from bank accounts. Now that the festival of diwali is approaching, such gangs are resorting to some innovative ways to steal. The Computer Emergency Response Team of india under the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MEITY) has issued guidelines not to click on this link if you get a message asking you to get diwali gifts. Do not share personal information, bank account details, passwords, one-time passwords, etc. A list of dos and don'ts is also published for users.

1. Do not browse on untrusted websites or click on untrusted links and exercise caution when clicking on links in suspicious emails or messages.

2. Click only on URLs that clearly refer to the website's domain. When in doubt, use search engines to search directly for the company's official website to verify that the websites they visited are legitimate.
3. Legitimate companies never ask for login credentials or credit card details through emails or SMS. If you receive such a message, you should be cautious.
4. Keep your personal information private. Make sure passwords are strong and personal information is not shared with anyone.

5. Make sure you download apps only from verified app stores.

6. Those guidelines say to be cautious even if they have numbers other than a mobile number.
