Tata Sons have announced the appointment of Campbell Wilson as the new CEO and Managing director of air India. Campbell Wilson, who has 26 years of experience in the aviation industry, has been described as an expert in managing low-cost aircraft. Wilson is 50 years old and has worked for singapore Airlines for over 15 years. Wilson has worked in countries including Canada, Japan, and also Hong Kong. Wilson, who started his career as a coach at SIA new zealand in 1996, has gradually progressed to the position of CEO.
Commenting on this, air india Chairman N Chandrasekaran said, that he is delighted to welcome Campbell to air India. Wilson, who has vast experience in the aviation industry internationally, said his experience will help air india build the best brand company in Asia.
Wilson holds a Masters's degree from the university of Canterbury, New Zealand. Ilker Aisi, the managing director of Turkish Airlines, who was appointed before Wilson, was appointed last February. But despite strong opposition to his appointment, he refused to take up the post at air India.
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has since been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of air India. It is in this context that Wilson is currently being promoted.
