New Rules for OTT..! Regulations or Restrictions..!?
The number of people who watch movies on OTT sites is equally high just like theaters. Many leading film companies and actors are also starting a one-man OTT site, directly or indirectly. The increase of OTT platforms even with top hero movies is due to corona spread and lockdowns.
Even theatrical releases are well-received on OTT and are expensive. It is said that there is a mutual benefit to both parties as half of the budget of the film is available to the film crew only through OTT Rights. According to the Central government, there are about 50 OTT sites in india alone. Meanwhile, the federal government last year introduced new regulations to impose some restrictions on OTT sites.
In this case, the rules are said to be in effect at present. Accordingly, the videos coming on OTT will be divided into 5 categories based on age. Videos that are viewable by all will be U-rated and U / A 7+ which will be viewed by those over 7 years of age. Similarly, U / A 13+ will be viewed by those over 13 years of age, and U / A 16+ will be viewed by those over 16 years of age.
It also states that U / A 13+ videos must only be broadcast with parental permission. These restrictions are said to come into effect soon.
