Why India Failed in T20 World Cup 2022 ?
The indian team's lack of success in these tournaments, whether it be the 2019 ODI world cup, the 2021 t20 world cup, or the 2022 t20 world cup, continues to haunt them. What, however, went wrong? Here are a few of the elements that led to India's demise in Australia.
Lack of a strike bowler: India's plan A throughout the tournament has been to take wickets during the powerplay by moving Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, utilising spin and bowling into the pitch to soak up the middle overs, and then executing plans towards the end. It's a good plan and very comparable to that of England's semi-final adversaries. But both attacks can occasionally appear weak if early wickets aren't taken.
Powerplay batters: India's ascent to the top has frequently been questioned. rohit sharma only managed one half-century, while KL rahul struggled to make an impact with the bat in four of the six games. India's batting in the powerplays was among the lowest in the entire competition.
The captain, rohit sharma, is already 35 years old, and the great virat kohli has just turned 34. Despite being out of the system for a while, suryakumar yadav is 32 years old. Dinesh Karthik, 37, is India's "finisher" in the competition. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and mohammed shami are both 32 years old. With the exception of kohli, none of these athletes met expectations.
In the t20 world cup, india played a total of 6 games, however there was a reluctance to use wrist-spinners (5 in the Super 12s and 1 semi-final). The only wristspinner in the 15-man roster, Yuzvendra Chahal, did not play in any of these games. Axar patel and Ravichandran Ashwin were both used throughout the entire competition. In t20 cricket, wrist spinners have a history of being effective choices for taking wickets.
