The Asia Cup cricket series will start on 27th in Dubai. The following teams including india, pakistan, sri lanka, bangladesh, and afghanistan are participating in this series. As the t20 world cup begins in October, cricket critics believe that the Asia Cup will be a training ground for it. So far, the indian team has won the Asia Cup cricket series a maximum of seven times.
The series is held as a t20 series if the Asia Cup is held in the year of the t20 world cup and as a 50-over tournament if the Asia Cup is held in the year of the World Cup. The series was not held in 2020 and 21 due to the threat of Corona. The series was originally scheduled to be held in pakistan in 2020.
Later due to political issues between india and pakistan, the match was shifted to Sri Lanka. But due to the political problem in sri lanka, the series is being held in dubai again. india won the Asia Cup for the first time in 1984 by defeating Sri Lanka. sri lanka beat pakistan in 1986 and india won a hat-trick of titles by beating sri lanka in 1998 and 91 and 95. In 1997, sri lanka won the championship by defeating India. In 2000, pakistan won the trophy by defeating Sri Lanka. In 2004 and 2008, sri lanka won the trophy by defeating India.
Following this, in 2010, india defeated sri lanka to win the title. pakistan beat bangladesh in 2012 and sri lanka beat pakistan in 2014. In 2016, india won the Asia Cup by defeating Bangladesh. Similarly, in the last series too, india won the Asia Cup by defeating Bangladesh. Now the fans are expecting india to win this series for the eighth time.
