Russian, Belarus athletes banned in Paralympics!
The international Paralympic Committee (IPC) declared on thursday that Russian and Belarussian competitors have been barred from competing in the beijing Games as a result of the ukraine incident.
The international Paralympic Committee (IPC) was heavily chastised for this decision. Following this, the IPC reversed its judgement and declared today that no player from russia or belarus will be able to compete in the Winter Paralympics.
"IPC is a membership-based organisation, and we appreciate the perspectives of our member organisations as well," said Andrew Parsons, President of the international Paralympic Committee (IPC), in a statement. As part of the Paralympic Movement, our members elected the Board in december 2021.
In his statement, IPC President Andrew Parsons also stated that "during the past 12 hours, a considerable number of members have contacted us to offer their thoughts, for which I am thankful." They have informed us that if we do not reconsider our decision, significant repercussions would follow.
According to the IPC, players from various member nations have threatened to boycott competition against russia or Belarus. This may have made things tough during the Paralympics.
