Budget Blues: Movies vs. Railways.!

The exorbitant prices charged at multiplexes for tickets to Mahesh Babu's highly anticipated "Guntur Karam" movie during the festive season, reaching up to Rs. 400, have sparked scrutiny over the Modi government's budget allocations. The juxtaposition of these ticket prices against the budget allocation for a crucial railway project raises questions about the government's priorities.

As the elections loom within the next fifty days, the government's actions seem to be under increased scrutiny. In particular, the allocation of funds for the ap capital amaravati railway line in the latest budget has drawn attention. A meagre sum of Rs. 1000 has been allotted, highlighting a stark disparity compared to the estimated cost of Rs. 2679 crores during Chandrababu's government. Over the last five years, the Centre's expenditure on this project was a mere Rs. 2.20 crores, primarily directed towards surveys.

This discrepancy in budgetary allocations becomes more evident when considering other vital projects in AP. For instance, the South Coast Zone offices in Visakhapatnam, estimated to cost Rs. 170 crores, received a paltry allocation of only Rs. 9 crores in the latest budget. Such disparities raise concerns about the government's commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs in the region, emphasizing the need for a more equitable distribution of resources.
