Samajwadi party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, accusing the government of hiding the figures of people killed in the stampede in Prayagraj Mahakumbh, on tuesday demanded that an all-party meeting be called to give clarification about the arrangements of Mahakumbh and various arrangements there should be handed over to the army. Apart from this, Akhilesh also took a dig at the internal politics of bjp and made a big claim.
Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the lok sabha on tuesday, Yadav said that just as the government is giving budget figures, it should also give the figures of those who died in Mahakumbh and the figures of treatment, food, transportation etc. of the injured should be presented in the Parliament.
He said that an all-party meeting should be called to give clarification about the arrangements of Mahakumbh and the responsibility of lost and found, management etc. should be given to the army. Yadav slammed the central government and the Uttar Pradesh government, accusing them of hiding the death toll and demanded strict punitive action against those responsible for the accident.
The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said, 'Those who hid the truth should be punished. If (the government) has no guilt, then why were the figures suppressed, hidden and erased. Where arrangements should have been made, there was publicity. The government's publicity in a religious gathering is condemnable.' He claimed that after the stampede in the maha Kumbh, the tradition of the saints bathing at a fixed time was also broken.
The SP mp said, 'If my statement is wrong, then the leader of the house (Prime minister Narendra Modi) should tell in response to the discussion.' He also claimed that after 17 hours of the stampede incident and after the condolence messages of the President and the Prime minister, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh accepted that people had died. Referring to the President's speech, Yadav said that it contained old things like construction of 12 crore toilets and free distribution of food grains to 80 crore poor people.
