A man was beaten to death by a mob in Seraikela-Kharsawan
The jharkhand State Minority Commission (JSMC) on sunday (5 January) said that it will soon form an investigation team to investigate the case of a man being allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on december 8. All india Minority Welfare Front spokesperson Sarfaraz Hussain in a letter had demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged lynching of Sheikh Tajuddin by a mob in Adityapur. After this, the JSMC took cognizance of the incident.
Sarfaraz Hussain also demanded strict action against the culprits and adequate compensation to the family of the deceased. Tajuddin was seriously injured after being allegedly beaten up by a group of people in Sapra under Adityapur police station area. He later died.
JSMC Chairman Hidayatullah Khan said the commission took cognizance of the incident immediately after receiving Hussain's letter. Khan said that on december 26, the JSMC had sought an action report from the Superintendent of police (SP) of Seraikela-Kharsawan district in this regard, but no reply has been received so far.
Four accused surrendered
He told PTI-Bhasha that the commission will form an investigation team to investigate the matter and will visit the spot, take information about the incident from the victim's family members in a day or two and ask the district police about the action taken so far in this regard.
district Superintendent of police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said that the Sub-Divisional police Officer of Seraikela is investigating the case and his report will be submitted to the commission. He said that due to increasing pressure from the police, four accused have surrendered. The police had started taking action immediately after the case was registered in this regard. The SP said that Tajuddin died during treatment in the hospital about a week after the incident.
