Some Madrasas receiving funding from external sources – Uttarakhand Police

Reportedly after receiving inputs of external funding regarding madrasas operating in uttarakhand, now the state police has become alert. After the instructions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, uttarakhand police has started an in-depth investigation of this issue. In view of the seriousness of the matter, special committees have been constituted in all the districts under the chairmanship of district officials. These committees will have to prepare their report and submit it to the government within a month.

Meanwhile IG Law and Order Nilesh anand Bharne said, "As per the instructions of the chief minister, action has been expedited regarding the investigation of madrasas running in the state. The committees constituted under the chairmanship of district officials of all the districts have been given the responsibility to submit their report to the government within a month. During the investigation, the police will also ensure that the students from outside states studying in madrasas are verified." Nilesh anand Bharane further said that there are more than 400 registered madrasas in the state, but there are many madrasas which are being run illegally. The sources of operation of these madrasas and their funding will be closely investigated. The police will take strict action if any kind of irregularity is found in this matter.

Moreover according to the police, initial inputs have revealed that some madrasas are receiving funding from external sources. The police have started a detailed investigation to know from which sources this funding is coming and where it is being used. Information is also being collected about the students studying in madrasas, especially about those students who are coming from outside states and studying in madrasas of Uttarakhand. There are many madrasas in uttarakhand which are being run without government recognition. Such madrasas are being identified and their activities are being monitored. In the police investigation, priority will be given to the information about the operators of these madrasas, their funding sources and the students.
